FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some quick answers to the questions we get most often about EZ Badders and our East London sessions.

Do I need to pay for a membership?

Nope. There’s no long‑term contract or membership fee. Just pay the fee for the single session you’re attending, turn up and play.

Do I need a partner to join?

No. You can come on your own. We organise games and rotate players according to the game schedule and your rating, so you’ll always have people to play with.

What skill levels do you cater for?

We welcome a wide range of levels – from newer players who know the basic rules and can reliably hit the shuttle, through strong social and intermediate players, up to very solid club standard. We use our rating system to group you onto courts with players of a similar level so everyone gets competitive, enjoyable games.

Do you run sessions for kids?

Not at the moment. Our club is strictly 18+ as some of our venues don’t allow under‑18s and our sessions are organised with adults in mind.

How do I book a session?

All the booking is managed through our WhatsApp group. Vote on the poll for the session you want to attend and transfer the session fee as soon as you can to secure your spot.

What happens if the session is full?

If a session is full, choose the waitlist option in the poll. If someone cancels, the waitlisted players will get priority access to the available slot, in order of when they joined the waitlist.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

  • If you cancel more than 24 hours before the session starts, you’ll receive a full refund.
  • If you cancel within 24 hours and we find a replacement, you’ll receive 75% of the session fee back.
  • If you cancel within 24 hours and no replacement is found, we’re not able to issue a refund.

Do I need to bring my own racket?

We do recommend bringing your own racket if you’re able to – it will always feel best when it’s your own setup. But if you’re new or don’t want to commit to buying one yet, we rent rackets for £3 per session.

Are shuttles provided?

Yes. You don’t need to bring your own shuttles. Players with a rating below 1600 usually play with Yonex Mavis 600 plastic shuttles, and for higher‑rated courts we use feather shuttles.

How are rating points awarded?

Ratings go up when you win and down when you lose, with bigger changes when there’s a large difference in rating between you and your opponents. For a full explanation of how our system works, see the Ranked Games page.
